Unsweetened almond milk provides a great base for your smoothie without any added sugars or fats.
Cocoa powder provides a rich flavor and just 1 tablespoon contains about 5 percent of the recommended daily intake of iron, manganese, magnesium and zinc. The flavonoids in cocoa function as antioxidants that help prevent systemic inflammation.
Ground Flaxseed contains: omega-3 essential fatty acids, “good” fats that have been shown to have heart-healthy effects; lignans, which have both plant estrogen and antioxidant qualities; fiber, both the soluble and insoluble types. In research studies, the plant omega-3 fatty acid found in flaxseed, called ALA, inhibited tumor incidence and growth.
Bananas are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals such as potassium, calcium, manganese, magnesium, iron, folate, niacin, riboflavin, and B6. These all contribute to the proper functioning of the body and keeping you healthy.
Greens: because of their high content of antioxidants, green leafy vegetables may be one of the best cancer-preventing foods.
